Big Pink Sightseeing Launches in Times Square

August 22nd, 2010

As part of the 100 year celebrations for Gray Line World Wide, BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING  is launching a very unique sightseeing tour right here in TIMES SQUARE!!

This is NOT your typical sightseeing tour… guests on board the ‘Hop On / Hop Off’ BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING tour are not only entertained by the amazing tour guides; while on the authentic London style Double Decker  buses painted a shocking shade of bubblegum pink; but the BIG PINK bus also supports Breast Cancer research worldwide!! For every guest riding on the blushing buses a contribution to the local Breast Cancer Foundation is made on behalf of the operator of the tour. “The beauty of a project like this is, not only are we raising funds to support the foundation, it’s raising an amazing amount of awareness about breast cancer,” CEO of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Atlantic Region, Nancy Margeson, said at the tour’s unveiling in Canada earlier this year.  Officials from the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Atlantic Region project that the tours will raise as much as $150,000 a year in certain cities for the good cause. Margeson said she thinks the cause behind the tours will be the hook to get visitors on the buses and traveling across major North American cities. “You think ‘Will I or won’t I?’ and then you think, ‘Wow, part of my ticket is going to breast cancer. I’ll do it,'”‚ she said.

The partnership between Gray Line Worldwide, BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING and the Breast Cancer Foundation began in Canada when the Canadian Breast Cancer foundation – Atlantic Region CEO was contacted by BIG PINKSIGHTSEEING president, Dennis Campbell, about the possibility of establishing a fleet of pink double-decker buses across Canada. BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING was started in Saint John, New Brunswick (Canada) operated by Ambassatours Gray Line and serves the cruise ship industry on the east coast of the USA and Canada.  “Working with BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING has been an absolute pleasure. They are a terrific partner and corporate citizen and have shown major commitment to helping the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation” says Nancy Margeson, CEO, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Atlantic Region.

“Our goal is to contribute over $1,000,000 per year to breast cancer research worldwide going forward”, stated Dennis Campbell, President of the BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING. “What a great way to contribute to a great cause while enjoying an amazing sightseeing tour of cities worldwide; throughout the Gray Line network of over 150 operators in 700 countries; covering every continent (except Antarctica).”

Working with Gray Line Worldwide will allow the BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING to expand into the global market.  Gray Line Worldwide CEO Brad Weber states “Having considered the absolutely incredible effect I think this campaign can have on raising breast cancer awareness, it is with great pride I pledge the support of Gray Line Worldwide in making BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING a truly, global initiative. The collective ability we have to introduce these travelers to BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING, raise breast cancer awareness and generate a global groundswell of support is worthy of our time and effort to make it a reality.”

The BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING has since expanded and will be starting operations in Vancouver, British Columbia operated by Gray Line of Vancouver / West Coast Sightseeing in the spring of 2011.

“While we are now operating in Canada, it is a perfect time to launch BIG PINK SIGHTSEEING in Times Square in partnership with Breast Cancer Foundations and Gray Line Worldwide. 2010 is Gray Line’s 100th birthday!  The buses are big, bright and very novel.  Double decker buses stand out to begin with.  Paint them bright pink. Brand them Gray Line. Tie in an amazing cause to help support by giving back a portion of the proceeds.  We are creating numerous massive mobile billboards for the cause and it’s a great product for all involved,  I like to call it ‘Altru-tourism’ ” he said.

Breast cancer research and awareness is a cause close to Campbell’s heart because his mother is a breast cancer survivor.
